The Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) is a full service office that has responsibility for planning, developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating all Equal Opportunity Programs within the Maryland State Highway Administration. These programs include Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action (Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964), Environmental Justice, Disadvantaged/Minority Business Enterprise Program (D/MBE), Contractor Compliance / On-the-Job (OJT) and Limited English Proficiency (LEP) (Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
In order to fulfill this responsibility, the Office of Equal Opportunity works cooperatively with the agency’s Equal Opportunity Officers assigned throughout the State Highway Administration’s (SHA) seven districts, Hanover Complex, and Civil Rights Specialists assigned to Special Mega Projects referred to as the Woodrow Wilson Bridge (WWB) and Inter-County Connector (ICC).
OEO will promote equal opportunity on behalf of all customers of State Highway Administration, both internal and external, by providing improved services and support to all program areas.
“To ensure that State Highway Administration is an organization that is free from discrimination in all program areas and promotes equity and equality during every facet of our day to day business activities.”
