STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE LANES ON I-270 EARLY FRIDAY MORNING
Overnight 15-Minute Closures Necessary to Install New Sign over I-270
As part of the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration’s (SHA) Intercounty Connector (ICC) project, construction crews will temporarily close all four lanes of northbound I-270 north of Exit 6 (West Montgomery Avenue) for brief 15-minute intervals tonight, Thursday, November 4, between midnight and 4 a.m. Crews will be installing overhead ICC signs.
Single lane closures along the general use lanes and the merge lanes will begin at 9 p.m. on Thursday night, November 4; double lane closures are expected to begin in the general use lanes by 11 p.m. with total 15 minute closures of the general use lanes permitted between midnight and 4 a.m., November 5. The merge lanes lanes will remain open during the 15-minute closures.
The sign installation is part of the Contract A section of the ICC from I-370 to East of MD 97 (Georgia Avenue). Contract A is scheduled to open in late 2010/early 2011.
