SHA will host a public meeting/open house for an SHA project to replace the Middletown Road Bridge over I-83 on November 9, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Prettyboy Elementary School - Cafeteria, 19810 Middletown Rd.
The Middletown Road Bridge over I-83 is structurally safe, but showing signs of deterioration. SHA is scheduled to replace it with a new bridge beginning early summer 2012.
SHA is going to replace the existing 2-lane bridge with a wider bridge to provide an additional westbound lane along Middletown Road in the interchange area to improve traffic safety and operations. The new bridge will look similar to the new Freeland Road bridge, completed summer 2007.
The bridge will remain open to traffic during construction; however, SHA and the contractor will need to temporarily close 20 spaces at the 60-space Park and Ride lot.
