6/8/2012SHA IMPROVES SAFETY AND RIDE QUALITY ON YORK ROAD (MD 45) IN TIMONIUM, BALTIMORE COUNTY
(May 18, 2012) - The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is implementing a $1.2 million resurfacing project to improve safety and traffic operations along approximately one mile of York Road (MD 45) between Ridgely Road and Timonium Road in Baltimore County.
Crews are upgrading sections of curb, gutter and sidewalk; upgrading sidewalk ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards; and cleaning and repairing inlets and drainage pipes.  In mid-June, weather permitting, crews will begin patching, grinding and resurfacing, followed by work to install new pavement markings. SHA will shift traffic and close a lane along York Road during the work to ensure the safety of travelers and construction crews.

During construction, single lane closures and traffic shifts may occur Sunday through Thursday along York Road between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day.  No SHA construction-related lane closures will take place along York Road in Timonium during the Maryland State Fair (August 24 – September 3). Weather permitting, the project is expected to be complete by Labor Day.

The contractor for the York Road project is Gray and Son, Inc. of Timonium.  Weather permitting, the entire project will be complete late summer 2012.

Citizens with questions about the project may contact SHA’s District Four Office - Construction Division at 410-229-2420, toll-free at 1-866-998-0367 or by email: shadistrict4@sha.state.md.us
