SHA HOLDS OPEN HOUSE FOR VEIRS MILL ROAD BUS RAPID TRANSIT STUDY IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY

Area Residents Encouraged to Attend, Suggest Ways to Improve Transit Service 
                      
WHAT:  
Next week, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is hosting an informational open house about planned public transportation improvements along the MD 586 (Viers Mill Road) corridor in Montgomery County between the Wheaton and Rockville Metrorail stations.
 
As part of the open house, project team members from SHA, Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) and Maryland Transit Authority (MTA) will discuss a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Planning Study and define how a BRT  will operate, explain the purpose and need for the project and compare it to other Montgomery County BRT studies.  
 
Open house participants may talk with SHA, MCDOT, MTA and Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority (WMATA) representatives at display stations and provide comments and concerns about the project. The open house will not include a formal presentation. Participants may walk through displays at any time during the open house.
