Federal and State laws require that state agencies provide open access programs and services to the public, including those with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). To provide our customers with equal access to critical transportation-related information, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) has resources and implementation plans that provide services to our LEP customers.
MDOT SHA directs all offices that aid the public to take reasonable steps to provide those who have limited English proficiency with access to programs, activities, and services. The Employment and Program Equity Division within the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) provides MDOT SHA employees with technical assistance. This includes advising divisions of LEP requirements and implementation. OEO also helps develop plans for individual departments.
