The Office Support Team (OST) administers day-to-day functions and support production for the division. This team manages secretarial services and communications systems for TEDD. When in doubt about a TEDD-managed project, contact the OST.
The Traffic Control Device Design Team designs and manages in-house, consultant and developer-produced traffic signal projects. Signal Design is divided into two teams specializing in specific production roles to support program needs. At any given time, over 300 signal designs are in process. These range from simple to complex to extraordinary in both design and turnaround time.
The Positive Guidance Design Team develops highway signing and pavement markings, specifications, standards and contracts, and in-house and consultant-produced signing plans. The sign design Team handles all signing needs statewide. Our signing program produces over 250 projects a year ranging from emergency knockdowns to major interstate signing projects.
The Structural Design Team designs, reviews, inspects and manages traffic-control device structural support systems. It provides the specifications, standards, and designs for all traffic control devices statewide. It helps Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) inspect highway structures.
The Intelligent Transportation Systems Design Team develops specifications, standards, design and engineering of specialized traffic control devices. These devices are the product of the CHART Steering Committee and OOTS. The ITS Design Team is the newest TEDD Team. This team designs VMS, TAR signing, traffic detection systems, CCTV and other high-tech traffic control systems. These systems are integrated into the Statewide Operations Center and the CHART system.
