Automated Speed Enforcement

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is committed to enhancing safety on our roads. Red-light running and driving too fast for conditions cause many crashes in our State each year. Automated Enforcement Systems deter such high-risk behavior. Automated enforcement is permitted by Maryland law for red-light running and for driving 12 or more mph over the speed limit in designated school zones and certain work zones.
