Utility Center

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) maintains over 5,000 miles of highways, along with bridges, traffic operations systems, rest areas, and other facilities. We provide safe and efficient transportation throughout Maryland. Sharing the highway right of way with electric, communications, gas, water, sewer, and other utilities means that construction and maintenance work on the MDOT SHA highway system will interact with these utilities.
The documents, links and information below help accommodate, construct, adjust, relocate, and maintain these utilities within MDOT SHA’s rights of way.
