(December 17, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close three lanes of the I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) Outer Loop bridges at Suitland Parkway Monday and Tuesday night for bridge work in Upper Marlboro, Prince George’s County.

Starting at 10 p.m., crews will close three lanes on the Outer Loop of I-95/I-495 from Exit 9, Forestville Road, to Exit 11, MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue).  One through lane will be maintained during the overnight work. The lane closure will take place Monday and Tuesday night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.  Additionally, an overnight double lane closure is also needed tomorrow, Dec. 18, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. within the same limits in order to complete all necessary work.

Currently, traffic is split with two lanes to the left and two to the right on the I-95/I-495 Outer Loop as crews work in the center lanes. After the traffic shift is complete, all four lanes of traffic will be on the left so that the final stages of the bridge construction can begin in the right lanes.

This work is part of the $36 million I-95/I-495 over Suitland Parkway bridge replacement  project, which is expected to be complete by the end of 2021. For more information, visit the Project Portal Site.
