Overnight Work Requires One-Mile Single-Lane and Shoulder Closure

(June 5, 2023) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will close one lane and the shoulder along a one-mile stretch of southbound US 15/westbound US 340 between the exit to eastbound I-70 and MD 180 in Frederick County this week to remove a damaged overhead light. The work will be performed overnight from 9 p.m. Thursday, June 8, to 5 a.m. Friday, June 9, weather permitting.

The project requires an onsite crane, so during work hours crews will close the right lane and shoulder to safely perform the work. Contractor Lighting Maintenance, of Linthicum Heights, will use electronic signs, barrels, and cones to guide motorists safely through the work zone. The State Highway Administration understands lane closures are inconvenient, but the work is necessary to maintain a safe and reliable transportation system.

With warm weather upon us, motorists are urged to remain vigilant for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists. Remember motorcycles can be hidden from view in vehicle blind spots. Please look twice and save a life.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
