5/11/2012SHA Hosts Public Meeting/Open House for Two I-695 Projects in Arbutus May 23
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is hosting an informational public meeting/open house to inform Arbutus area residents and businesses about two proposed projects along I-695 North (Baltimore Beltway inner loop) between Benson Avenue and Leeds Avenue in southwestern Baltimore County.
Wednesday, May 23, 2012, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Arbutus Middle School – Cafeteria, 5525 Shelbourne Road, Arbutus, MD 21227
The Maryland State Highway Administration is developing two proposed projects along I-695 North:
1. Relocation of the ramp from Leeds Avenue to the I-695 inner loop.  SHA plans to replace the existing ramp with a new ramp from US 1 (Southwestern Boulevard) to the I-695 inner loop.    This project also includes safety improvements along US 1 between Linden Avenue and Knecht Avenue.
2. Replacement of two I-695 inner loop bridges over Benson Avenue, AMTRAK, US 1 (Southwestern Boulevard) and Leeds Avenue in Baltimore County.  Originally constructed in 1957 and widened in 1970, the bridges are nearing the end of their useful service life and need to be replaced as part of SHA’s bridge system preservation program. The I-695 outer loop bridges were replaced approximately five years ago.
Attendees may arrive at any time during the open house and walk through the project display stations at their own pace.  SHA project staff will be available at the stations to discuss the projects and answer questions.
