SHA will close the left lane of southbound I-795 9Northwest Expressway) from south of the Owings Mills Boulevard (MD 940) interchange to I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) for concrete resurfacing work this weekend. The left lane (one of three lanes) will be closed between 7 p.m. Friday, July 6 and 5 a.m. Monday, July 9 to allow for pouring and setting of new concrete pavement along southbound I-795.
The weekend work is part of SHA's ongoing project to repair concrete pavement on I-795 North and South between I-695 and Owings Mills Boulevard (MD 940). Weather permitting, concrete pavement work will be complete fall 2013.
In addition to concrete repair, SHA will upgrade traffic barriers, repair storm drain systems, resurface ramps at the Owings Mills Boulevard interchange and install new pavement markings.
There may be weekday single lane closures and ramp lane shifts along both directions of I-795 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, and single and double lane closures between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sunday – Thursday.
Weekend single lane closures may occur along I-795 between 7 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday. Double lane closures may take place overnight on weekends between 11 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday and again between midnight Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Interchange ramps may also be closed and detoured weeknights between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next morning, Sunday through Thursday, and on weekends between 7 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday.
There will also be two more weekends this summer when there will be a double-lane closure along southbound I-795 between 10 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, so crews may perform concrete work in the center lanes of the expressway.
There will also be weekday overnight ramp closures/detours and weekend ramp closures/detour at the I-795/Owings Mills Boulevard interchange for concrete work on the ramps. SHA will announce the weekend double lane closures and ramp closures in advance.
There will be no construction-related lane closures on I-795 this summer during the Labor Day holiday weekend.
