7/6/2012SHA and BGE Continue work at I-695/MD 144 (Frederick Road) Interchange Sunday night, July 8
SHA advises travelers that there will be overnight lane and ramp closures at the I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) / MD 144 (Frederick Road) interchange for installation of steel beams and a future BGE gas pipeline on the new Frederick Road bridge over I-695 between 8 p.m. Sunday, July 8 and 5 a.m. Monday, July 9.
Beginning 7 p.m. Sunday, contractor crews will temporarily close one of four lanes along I-695 North the Inner Loop.  Crews will close the second lane along I-695 North at 10 p.m. and the third lane at midnight.  The triple lane closure will be in effect until 5 a.m. Monday.
At 8 p.m. Sunday, crews will close the ramp from Frederick Road West and East to I-695 North and close the westbound lane of Frederick Road in the interchange area until 5 a.m. Monday.  Motorists will be detoured to I-695 South to the MD 372 - Wilkens Avenue interchange and back to I-695 North.
The bridge will remain open overnight, with flagpersons controlling two-way traffic on the bridge.  SHA will also close the Woodlawn Avenue, Dungarrie Road and Greenoch Drive access points Frederick Road overnight.

This will allow bridge construction crews to safely complete installation of the steel beams over the Inner Loop for the new Frederick Road bridge and BGE crews will install a new gas pipeline underneath the new bridge, with a shield over the Inner Loop and Outer Loop.  There will be no lane closures necessary on the Outer Loop during the pipeline installation.
Motorists traveling on Frederick Road between the communities of Catonsville and Paradise may wish to consider alternative routes such as MD 372 (Wilkens Avenue) and Edmondson Avenue on Sunday night and early Monday morning.
The overnight work is part of SHA's ongoing project to replace the Frederick Road bridge over I-695 and construct other traffic safety improvements at the interchange.  SHA’s contractor for the project is American Infrastructure, Inc. of Fallston.
