Update: SHA anticipates reopening the MD 97/CSX crossing north of Old Frederick Road on Friday, November 11, prior to the evening commute. Below is additional background on the project and detour route.
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) advises motorists that SHA will assist CSX in closing a section of MD 97 (Old Washington Road) in Carroll County beginning Monday, November 7.
The one week closure will allow CSX crews to repair the asphalt and concrete areas around the tracks, which will provide a smoother, stable transition over the crossing. The roadway will reopen on Monday, November 14 weather and work-permitting.
Crews will close both directions of MD 97 at the CSX crossing north of I-70. Traffic on
MD 97 will be directed to use the following detour:
CSX will use variable message signs, temporary signs, and barrels to alert motorists to the work zone and guide them through the detour route.
