(August 14, 2012) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) is permitting single lane closures for up to four nights for a developer to install several utilities on MD 12 (Snow Hill Road) at the intersection of West College Avenue in Salisbury.   Weather permitting, the utility work begins Wednesday, August 15 and will be completed by Saturday, August 18.

Motorist should expect single lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. during each work day. SHA crews will use variable message signs, drums, and cones to direct motorists through the one-lane, yield control traffic pattern.  Motorists traveling through the intersection between 8 8p.m. and 5:30 a.m. on MD 12 should expect minor delays.

The construction and concrete work provides tie-ins to existing City of Salisbury water and sewer mains. SHA will complete road work paving at the intersection by early September.  The general contractor is Hopkins & Wayson, Inc. of Owings, MD and the entire utility project will be completed by mid-September. Anyone with utility issues should contact the City of Salisbury Public Works Department at 410-548-3170.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.   Safer driving. Safer work zones.  For everyone!
