(November 8, 2012) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) is paving both the eastbound and westbound lanes of a 2.3 mile section of US 50 (Ocean Gateway) from the Nanticoke Memorial Bridge south to Wallertown Road in Wicomico County.  The overlay project begins Tuesday, November 13 and is scheduled to be complete in mid-December, weather permitting.

The $1.4 million road patching and resurfacing project will be performed by American Infrastructure MD, Inc. of Fallston, MD.  Motorists should expect single lane closures from sunrise to sunset Monday through Friday.

SHA will use flaggers, variable message signs cones, arrow panels, and traffic cones to guide motorists through the work zone. The resurfacing work will improve safety and overall road conditions along US 50 in both directions immediately south of the Nanticoke River.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Saver driving. Safer work zones. Benefit everyone!
