(April 5, 2013) – The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will install a rooftop air conditioning unit this weekend, necessitating lane closures and lane shifts on MD 410 (East West Highway) just east of Colesville Road (MD 384).  The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) advises motorists that a large crane will be moved into place at 1325 East West Highway beginning at 11 p.m. tonight, April 5 with lane closures and lane shifts expected through the weekend.

According to NOAA, the crane, which is three lanes wide, will take several hours to position in front of their building on MD 410 (East West Highway).  Once the crane is in place, traffic on MD 410 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction through most of the weekend.

Motorists on southbound Colesville Road wanting to turn left (east) on MD 410 should consider turning left on MD 97 (Georgia Avenue) to avoid the area.  Motorists on northbound Colesville Road wanting to turn right on MD 410 should consider going past the intersection to a right onto Wayne Avenue to a right onto Georgia Avenue.  According to NOAA, the work is expected to be complete during the day on Sunday.
