(April 12, 2013) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) advises motorists that the exit from northbound US 522 to West High Street in Hancock will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. April 16 through 18 for pavement repairs.

Motorists should follow the posted detour, which will direct traffic to:

• Continue on northbound US 522
• Turn right on eastbound I-70
• Take eastbound I-70 to exit 3 for Hancock/MD 144
• At the end of the exit 3 ramp, take a right to westbound MD 144
• Continue on westbound MD 144 to Virginia Avenue
• Take Virginia Avenue to West High Street

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
