(May 2, 2013) – Drivers who use the US 340 Park and Ride lot on Lander Road in Jefferson will need to find alternate parking Thursday, May 9; Friday, May 10; and Saturday, May 11. The lot will be closed for paving.

The State Highway Administration (SHA) advises Park and Ride users to consider parking at the Mount Zion Road Park and Ride or the Rosemont Park and Ride on MD 180 (Jefferson Pike) near the US 340/MD 17 (Burkettsville Road) interchange. For a map of all Park and Ride locations click here.

The closure will allow crews to repave and and restripe the 93-space lot, which is used as a Park and Ride through an agreement between SHA and the Jefferson Ruritan Club. SHA’s contractor for the $60,000 project is CJ Miller LLC of Hampstead.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
