WHAT:

The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is hosting an informational meeting about an upcoming project to rehabilitate the MD 140 (Westminster Pike) Bridge over the North Branch of the Patapsco River (Liberty Reservoir) at the Baltimore County/Carroll County line.

WHEN:

Tuesday, May 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

WHERE:

Sandymount Elementary School – Gymnasium
2222 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg, MD 21048

WHY:

The MD 140 Bridge over the North Branch of the Patapsco River is scheduled for reconstruction starting in September. SHA will replace the bridge deck (driving surface) and supporting steel beams and widen the shoulders on the bridge. Beginning in early spring 2014 and continuing through next fall, the bridge will be reduced from four to three lanes, one of which will be a reversible lane carrying traffic towards Baltimore during the morning rush hour and towards Westminster during the evening rush hour and weekends.

The informational meeting will cover the project design, schedule, and what to expect during construction. Display areas will be set up with project information and lane diagrams for each phase, and SHA representatives will be available to discuss the project and answer any questions concerning construction. A formal presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m.
