SHA TO HOST PUBLIC MEETING ABOUT SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT ON MD 66 IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

WHAT:

The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is hosting a public meeting about a proposed safety improvement project on MD 66 (Mapleville Road) south of US 40, near San Mar, in Washington County.
 

WHEN:
        
Wednesday, June 19 between 6:00 and 8 p.m.
A brief formal presentation will begin at 6:15 p.m.

WHY:  
         
SHA is finalizing the design for a project to improve safety along a curve on MD 66 between Benevola Church Road and Little Beaver Creek by widening the road along the inside of the curve and adding a striped median island and shoulders. The project also includes adding a second pipe to an existing culvert that runs under MD 66 to improve drainage. Construction is tentatively scheduled for spring of 2014. During construction, traffic on MD 66 will be detoured for two consecutive weekends.is area to improve drainage.

The purpose of this Informational Public Meeting is to formally present the scope of the project along with anticipated impacts and results.  The public meeting will provide an opportunity for interested individuals, associations, citizen groups, and government agencies to offer questions and comments regarding potential property and community impacts. Maps and other exhibits depicting the proposed improvements will be on display for public viewing beginning at 6 p.m., followed by a brief presentation at 6:15 p.m.  Representatives from SHA will be available following the presentation to answer questions.
