(June 26, 2013) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) is paving nearly two miles of MD 404 (Shore Highway) from Sennett Road to the Delaware State Line in Caroline County.  The overlay project will be complete by mid-July.

Crews are milling (removing the top layer of asphalt) and resurfacing the roadway, as well as re-striping the lines.  SHA’s contractor for the $2,022,000 project is American Infrastructure of Fallston.

During construction, motorists will encounter single lane closures from noon Monday until 5 p.m. and Tuesday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. No roadwork will be conducted on Fridays due to the high volume of summer traffic.

The contractor is using variable message boards, temporary signs, flaggers, cones and barrels to guide motorists through the work zone. Motorists should plan extra commute time during the resurfacing project.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Saver driving. Safer Work Zones. For Everyone!
