(July 12, 2013) – The concrete pavement on Loch Raven Boulevard (MD 542) between Joppa Road and Cromwell Bridge Road near I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) is being repaired by the State Highway Administration (SHA).  Travelers in the area are advised to plan extra travel time through the area.

Crews will shift lanes and use flagging operations to create a safer highway work zone to remove and replace the concrete.  There will be temporary night-time single lane closures on Loch Raven Boulevard between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day Sunday – Thursday.  Interchange ramp closures also may occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day Sunday – Thursday.  On weekends, crews may close lanes along Loch Raven Boulevard and interchange ramps at any time between 10 p.m. Friday and 9 p.m. Sunday.

SHA urges area residents and visitors to plan for extra travel time when traveling on Loch Raven Boulevard between Joppa Road and Cromwell Bridge Road and to drive with caution, especially when going in and out of local business driveways.

The $850,000 project will improve safety and ride quality along this section of Loch Raven Boulevard, which carries an average of 35,600 vehicles per day.  Concrete General, Inc. of Gaithersburg is the State’s contractor.  The project will be complete early fall 2013, weather permitting.

Citizens who have questions about highway maintenance work on MD 542 or any other State highway in Baltimore or Harford counties may contact SHA’s District 4 Office in Hunt Valley at 410-229-2360, toll-free at 1-866-998-0367 or by e-mail: shadistrict4@sha.state.md.us.
