(August 9, 2013) – Beginning tonight at 9 p.m., the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is closing the ramp from northbound US 301 to eastbound and westbound US 50 and the ramp from westbound US 50 to southbound US 301 to continue pavement repairs at the interchange. The ramps will reopen no later than 5 a.m. on Monday, August 12.  The extended ramp closures are necessary to allow the concrete overlay proper time to cure and dry.

Drivers traveling on northbound US 301 should use the Belair Road exit and follow the signed detour route to access eastbound or westbound US 50.

Drivers traveling on westbound US 50 should bypass the interchange, make a left onto MD 197 (Collington Road) and follow the signed detour route to access southbound US 301.

This project was made possible with funding from the Transportation Infrastructure Investment Act of 2013, which maintains crucial system preservation investments and allows Maryland to activate long-term strategies to invest in Maryland’s transportation systems. By putting people back to work in the transportation industry with $4.4 billion in new investments in the next six years, Maryland is creating hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity and providing Marylanders with the transportation infrastructure necessary to grow and prosper for decades to come.

For more information about the overall project, click here.  As crews strive to keep work zones safe, stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
