(September 18, 2013) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is performing emergency road repair to the eastbound US 40 (Pulaski Highway) Bridge over Whitemarsh Run (south of MD 43 (Whitemarsh Boulevard) in Whitemarsh, Baltimore County.  Crews have closed the right lane on eastbound US 40 and this closure could remain in effect for several days.  Crews will be backfilling an unstable area with concrete-based grout.

More than 40,000 vehicles use Pulaski Highway in this area each day.  Traffic will be extremely heavy, particularly during the afternoon rush hour. Motorists should plan for extra travel time along US 40, MD 7 (Philadelphia Road), MD 43 (Whitemarsh Boulevard) and MD 150 (Eastern Boulevard).

SHA’s contractor for the $50,000 repair is Brawner Builders of Hunt Valley. While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Saver driving. Safer Work Zones. For Everyone!
