(October 24, 2013) – On Monday night, October 28, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close a single lane on the eastbound MD 32 Bridge over I-95, as well as the left ramp from eastbound MD 32 to northbound I-95.  The temporary ramp and lane closures are necessary for crews to resurface the approaches to the bridge. Weather permitting; the ramp and all lanes will be open by 5 a.m. Tuesday, October 29.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, crews will close one lane on eastbound MD 32 at I-95.  SHA will alternate right and left lane closures as the project progresses throughout the evening. At  midnight, crews will close the ramp from eastbound MD 32 to northbound I-95.  Traffic will be detoured to the US 1 (Washington Boulevard)/MD 32 interchange to make a u-turn to access the northbound I-95 ramps.  Motorists can use MD 175 or MD 100 to access northbound I-95 and avoid the work zone completely.

SHA’s contractor for the $50,000 ride quality improvement project is Covington Machine and Welding of Annapolis.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
