(December 3, 2013) – As part of the Maryland State Highway Administration’s (SHA) $16.5 million project to replace the MD 144 (Frederick Road) bridge over I-695 in Catonsville, crews are nearing completion of the second half of the new bridge and will this week begin relocating the ramp from northbound I-695 (inner loop) to Frederick Road.

Weather permitting, the ramp from Frederick Road to southbound I-695 (Beltway outer loop) will be closed between 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 3 and 5 a.m. Wednesday, December 4 and again between 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 4 and 5 a.m. Thursday, December 5.  Detour: Frederick Road to northbound I-695 to exit 14, Edmondson Avenue, turn left at the bottom of the ramp and turn right onto the ramp to southbound I-695.

SHA and its contractor will then close the existing ramp from the  inner loop I-695 to Frederick Road, 24 hours a day, for approximately three weeks beginning early Friday morning, December 6, by 5 a.m.  Detour: northbound I-695 to Edmondson Avenue, exit 14, turn left onto westbound Edmondson Avenue, turn right onto the ramp to southbound I-695 and then exit onto Frederick Road.

Weather permitting, the new ramp from the inner loop I-695 to Frederick Road will open late December, along with the second half of the new bridge (the future eastbound lanes of Frederick Road).  The old ramp will be closed and removed. The entire project will be complete spring 2014, weather permitting.
