(February 24, 2014) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will close three left lanes starting at 10 p.m. on the inner loop of I-495/southbound I-95 (Capital Beltway) between MD 5 (Branch Avenue, Exit 7) and MD 414 (St. Barnabas Road, Exit 4).

The overnight closure will allow crews to perform emergency concrete deck work and repair a bridge joint on the I-495 Bridge over MD 414 this week.  SHA expects this work to occur each night through Thursday (weather permitting). All lanes of traffic will reopen no later than 5 a.m. each day. Crews determined that additional work was needed after making pothole repairs on this section of the Capital Beltway.

As crews work to keep work zones safe, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For Everyone!
