(April 2, 2014) – This Saturday, the State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close the northbound lanes of US 13 at Loretto Road, just north of Princess Anne in Somerset County. The closure will allow crews to remove a dead tree that could fall into the roadway, causing a potential hazard for motorists.

Both northbound lanes will be closed for 15 minute intervals on Saturday, April 5, between 7 a.m. until noon, weather permitting.  Motorists traveling north on US 13 will use a single lane closure and be directed through the work zone by flaggers, barrels and signs.

Mercier’s, Inc. of Harmans will perform the tree removal as part of an area wide tree and vegetation maintenance contract with SHA.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer driving. Safer work zones. For everyone!
