(July 16, 2014) – Construction crews recently began upgrading nearly two dozen sidewalk ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards along MD 480 (Ridgely Road) in the Town of Ridgely.  The State Highway Administration (SHA) contractor will work Mondays through Fridays during daylight hours.

The work includes improvements to sidewalk ramps, curb and gutter, and pavement markings and will be complete by late August, weather permitting. SHA crews will use variable message signs, arrow panels, traffic cones and barrels together with a flagging operation directing single lane and shoulder closures during the project. SHA awarded the $500,000 contract to JJID, Inc., of Bear, Delaware.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.   Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones.  For Everyone.
