(August 4, 2014) – Today, the State Highway Administration (SHA) will start a $1.7 million noise wall construction project at the US 50 (John Hanson Highway) / MD 410 (Veterans Parkway) interchange in Prince George’s County. Weather permitting, the project should be complete late summer 2015.

A 1,400-foot noise wall will be constructed in the northeast quadrant of the interchange to benefit 78 homes in the Ardwick Ardmore community. SHA’s contractor for the work is Concrete General, Inc. of Gaithersburg.

Crews are permitted to work (weather permitting) between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., seven days per week. Residents and travelers are advised that equipment used for construction can be loud and disruptive.

To complete the work and move equipment and materials, crews may temporarily close a single lane in either direction on US 50 and/or MD 410 Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

As crews work to keep work zones safe, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For Everyone.
