(October 30, 2014) – A paving project begins Monday, November 3, on Mount Airy’s Main Street (MD 808). The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) advises drivers to allow extra time when traveling through the town over the next three weeks. Lane closures with flagging will be in place on Main Street between MD 144 (Ridgeville Boulevard)  and MD 27 (Ridge Road) on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Weather permitting, the project will be complete by late November.

The $490,000 project will include milling (removing the top layer of pavement) and overlaying and will be completed by C.J. Miller LLC of Hampstead under an areawide paving contract.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
