(January 6, 2015 – 6:30 a.m.) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) has crews treating the roads through much of Maryland as snow is falling in time for the morning commute.  Pavement and air temperatures are well below freezing therefore motorists are advised to lower their speeds during their travel today.

“Rush hour will be challenging so we strongly encourage motorists to delay their commute and allow trucks the time to effectively maneuver and treat the roads,” said SHA Administrator Melinda B. Peters. “While accumulations will be low, driving in any amount of snow requires more attention to how we drive on roads."

Motorists need to be aware of below freezing pavement temperatures and lower speeds in accordance with the pavement conditions.  SHA reminds motorists that it’s State law to have low-beam headlights on when windshield wipers are in operation.
