WHAT:

The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is hosting an informational public meeting to update residents in the region about scheduled maintenance that includes cleaning, painting, and minor rehabilitation work.

Displays will show the project detour and highlight construction plans.  The public is invited to meet the project team, provide comments and ask questions. Arrive at any time during the meeting hours as there will be no formal presentation.

WHEN:

Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

(Snow Date: Tuesday, February 10, 2015, same time)

The meeting will be held on the snow date if county public schools are closed or if the Queen’s Anne’s County snow emergency plan is in effect.

WHERE:

WHY:

SHA will discuss the various aspects of the maintenance, cleaning and painting project.  SHA will also provide information and displays of the traffic detour  which will begin about March 21, 2015 and should be completed on or before May 8, 2015.

During that period, the  bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic, but must remain in an open position for proper cleaning and painting. Therefore all vehicular traffic will be detoured along US 50/US 301. The traffic detour is expected to add approximately 2.5 miles (3 minutes of travel time) to affected trips.  The Kent Narrows Bridge will also be closed to pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

INFO:

Customers who would like more information about the project may contact Mr. Gee Williams, SHA Community Liaison for the Eastern Shore at 410-677-4073 or toll free at 1-800-825-4742.  He may also be reached by email at gwilliams10@sha.state.md.us.  The facility for the meeting is ADA compliant; anyone who needs special accommodations such as a translator or a sign language interpreter may contact Mr. Williams.
