(March 16, 2015) – Today, Monday, March 16, through Sunday, March 22 the State Highway Administration will close the eastbound lane and alternate traffic on MD 331 (Dover Road) over the Choptank River. Flaggers will direct alternating traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and motorists may encounter temporary delays.

The lane closure is necessary to allow the contractor to begin excavation at pier locations and to place staged embankments at the east approach for the MD 331 Dover Bridge replacement project.  The daily lane closures may continue for up to three consecutive weeks, depending on the progress of this preliminary work for the new bridge. SHA will also use variable message signs, cones and barrels to help direct traffic through the work zone.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes.  Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.  Safer driving.  Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
