(July 31, 2015) – Beginning this Monday morning (weather permitting), the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close one lane on MD 195 (Carroll Avenue)  between  Flower Avenue and Jefferson Avenue in Takoma Park. During the next several weeks, crews will repair deteriorated sections of sidewalk on the southbound side of the bridge.

Beginning Monday morning at 9 a.m. and continuing each weekday (weather permitting) until all sidewalk repairs are complete, crews are permitted to close the southbound lane of MD 195.  A flagging operation will guide both northbound and southbound MD 195 traffic through the work zone. All lanes will reopen no later than 3 p.m. each weekday. Drivers should add extra commute time and expect delays during the sidewalk construction.

Pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times, although sidewalk users may have to use the safest crossings within the work zone including ones on the opposite side of street. For a mid-summer update of major SHA projects in Maryland, click here.
