(August 14, 2015) – Starting Monday, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will improve the driving surface on the US 522 Bridge over the Potomac River in Washington County. Weather permitting; the repairs will be completed by the end of August.

Crews will replace worn bridge joints that will improve ride quality for 11,000 motorists who travel across the bridge each day.  The contractor will close a single lane Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Flaggers will guide motorists through the work zone and drivers should slow down and use caution through the area.  Motorists traveling from Morgan County, West Virginia will enter the work zone at Airpark Lane, approximately one-half mile from the bridge.
