Traffic Delays Possible for Five Weeks; SHA Advises Motorists to Plan Ahead for Extra Travel Time on Reisterstown Road North of I-695

(October 5, 2015) –The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) cautions motorists that Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) will repair underground utility along northbound MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) between Grey Rock Road/Mt. Wilson Lane and Stone Chapel Lane in the Woodholme area of Baltimore County.

All four travel lanes of MD 140 will remain open to traffic; however, the northbound and southbound lanes will be temporarily be shifted to one side (west) and narrowed from

12 to 10 feet wide to maintain traffic flow and provide a safe space for the BGE contractor crews. The temporary traffic pattern will begin Monday, October 5 and remain in place through early November, weather permitting.

SHA urges motorists going to shopping centers and other destinations in the Woodholme area to allow extra travel time and urges through travelers to consider using I-795 between I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) and Owings Mills as an alternate route.

For information about lane shifts and traffic operations on MD 140 or on other state roads in Baltimore and Harford counties, contact the SHA District 4 office at 410-229-2300 or 1-866-998-0367 or via email at SHADistrict4@sha.state.state.md.us.
