MD 223 PEDESTRIAN SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT MEETING SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1

Project to Benefit Elementary and Middle School Students in Upper Marlboro

What:   

Design is underway for roadway and pedestrian safety improvements on MD 223 (Woodyard Road) in Prince George’s County for Melwood Elementary and James Madison Middle schools.

When:

Tuesday, December 1 between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Where:

Melwood Elementary School - Cafeteria
7100 Woodyard Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772
(SHA presentation is part of Melwood PTA Monthly Meeting schedule)

Information:   

Proposed design elements include adding sidewalks on both sides of MD 223; replacing or relocating signs, crosswalk signals and pavement markings; stormwater and drainage improvements; and adding an acceleration/deceleration lane on northbound MD 223.        

Area residents are encouraged to attend Tuesday’s meeting and provide feedback to the SHA design team. Final design activities and approvals are expected to be complete spring 2016.
