MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION LIFTS I-270 AND US 50 HOV LANE RESTRICTIONS FOR THE WEDNESDAY EVENING RUSH HOUR

(March 16, 2016) – To reduce traffic congestion in the Washington Region due to the DC Metrorail shutdown, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration and Maryland State Police have lifted the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane restrictions along eastbound US 50 (John Hanson Highway) between I-95 (Capital Beltway) and US 301 in Bowie, and northbound I-270 between I-495 and MD 121 (Clarksburg Road). The normal HOV restrictions will resume at 5 a.m. Thursday.
