Overnight Work Begins Monday between Queenstown and Kent Island

(April 14, 2017) – Beginning Monday, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin resurfacing 4.2 miles of westbound US 50/301 (Blue Star Memorial Highway) between Queenstown and the Kent Narrows Bridge.  Work includes milling/grinding, patching, paving and restriping.  Weather permitting, all work will be completed by mid-summer.

This will be overnight work, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekdays.  Crews may close two of the three westbound travel lanes.  Occasional minor delays should be expected and motorists should allow extra time for travel during work hours.  SHA may adjust work hours and lane closures as needed in response to traffic conditions.

On average more than 76,000 vehicles travel this part of US 50/301 each day.  SHA awarded the $3.2 million project to David A. Bramble of Chestertown.

Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.
