MDOT SHA Replacing Damaged Pipe; Motorists to be Detoured

(July 19, 2017) –  The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will replace a damaged drainage pipe under MD 358 (Jacksonville Road) just south of Mill Lane on July 20.  The work requires MDOT SHA to close MD 358 between Maryland Ave and Mill Lane for 12 hours between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.  In the case of inclement weather, crews will perform the work the next day.

During the pipe replacement, MDOT SHA’s contractor, Metro Paving Corporation of Hyattsville, will direct motorists onto Mill Lane, then to Maryland Ave, and back to MD 358 as the detour route.

In addition to installing a new culvert, MDOT SHA road crews will pave and restripe MD 358 at the repair site.  Approximately 1,300 motorists use this section of MD 358 each day, so drivers should plan extra travel time.

Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.  Maryland drivers can also know before they go by calling 511 or visiting www.md511.org for live traffic updates.
