Drivers Should Plan for Additional Travel Time

(September 26, 2017) –  The Colonial Pipeline Company will close a section of MD 108 (Old Annapolis Road) at Centre Park Drive/Phelps Luck Drive in Columbia to perform repairs on a buried pipeline under MD 108 beginning Friday, October 6th at 9 p.m.

The closure and detour is necessary to inspect and repair a section of gas line that runs under MD 108. The company says all lanes will reopen by Monday, October 9th at 5 a.m.

Motorists will be detoured around the utility repair by way of MD 104 (Waterloo Road) to MD 100 to US 29 (Columbia Pike) and back to MD 108. Approximately 17,000 vehicles use this section of MD 108 each day, so motorists should plan extra travel times.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.

For more information about the repair, customers are invited to call Colonial Pipeline at 443-280-7349. Maryland drivers can also know before they go by calling 511 or visiting www.md511.org for live traffic updates, including construction delays and lane closures.
