Temporary Signal Will Allow Traffic Flow During Bridge Rehabilitation Project

(October 4, 2017)– On October 12th, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will activate a temporary traffic signal on MD 496 (Bachmans Valley Road) Bridge over Big Pipe Creek.

The signals are located at each end of the bridge and will alternate traffic across one lane during construction. MDOT SHA will replace half of the bridge deck (one lane), then switch traffic onto the new lane while the second half of the deck is replaced.

More information about this project can be found here.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
