Heavy traffic expected today and tomorrow

(May 24, 2018) – Motorists should expect heavy traffic through the end of the week for the viewing and funeral of Baltimore County Police Officer Amy Caprio. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will be helping local law enforcement with traffic operations, and that will include the closure of a portion of US 1 (Belair Road) this afternoon for the viewing and thousands of vehicles along tomorrow’s procession route, which includes MD 152 (Mountain Road), I-695, I-95 and I-83.

This afternoon, Officer Caprio’s funeral will be held at Schimunek Funeral Home, which is in the 9700 block of US 1/Belair Road. Starting at noon, US 1 will be closed between Honeygo Boulevard and Chapel Road. However, the roadway will remain open to residents and businesses.

Tomorrow’s funeral will be held at Mountain Christian Church in Joppa and the procession to Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens is expected to begin at noon. The procession route will travel along MD 152 to southbound I-95 to westbound I-695 to northbound I-83 to Padonia Road. Motorists should expect rolling road closures along the route and heavier than usual afternoon traffic.

As always, motorists can view real-time traffic conditions and access live traffic cameras by logging on to www.md511.org.
