Pipe Repair and Detour to Last Through Sunday

(August 22, 2018) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close MD 425 (Ironsides Road) between Beacon Dent Place and Baptist Church Road for emergency pipe repair in Nanjemoy. The closure and detour will begin on Thursday August 23 and re-open by 12 noon Sunday, August 26.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Brawner Builders of Hunt Valley, will direct motorists traveling on northbound MD 425 to westbound MD 6 (Port Tobacco Road) and back to MD 425. Motorists traveling southbound on MD 425 will directed to a right turn on Baptist Church to westbound Port Tobacco Road and back to MD 425. Crews will work 24-hours per day until the repair is complete.

Approximately 1,700 use this section of Ironsides Road each day so motorists should allow extra commuting time during the pipe repair.

While MDOT SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
