(April 18, 2019) – Starting early May, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin improving ride quality and paving in both directions of MD 2/MD 4 (Solomons Island Road) between Coster Mill Bridge Road and Calvert Cliff Parkway and between MD 264 (Broomes Island Road) and MD 231 (Hallowing Point Road) in Calvert County. The work will continue each night until early-summer.

Motorists can expect overnight single lane closures between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sunday nights through Friday mornings. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra commuting time during construction.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Aggregate Industries, of Greenbelt, will mill, patch, crack seal and place an ultra-thin bonded wearing course to the roadway to improve ride quality for thousands of daily motorists.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our contractor. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on the road and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Drive like you work here and slowdown in construction zones.
