Motorists Should Allow Extra Travel Time Until Late October

(August 29, 2019) – Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), as part of its Reisterstown Road Electric Reliability Upgrade, Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) will perform preventative maintenance on underground transmission cables located on a section of MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) north of the McDonogh Road/Cradock Lane intersection in Owings Mills. BGE contractors will work on a 24-hour / 7-day schedule for approximately 60 days beginning Sept. 3, 2019.

To assist BGE contractor crews, MDOT SHA has permitted BGE to shift lanes on northbound Reisterstown Road beginning at the McDonogh Road/Cradock Lane intersection. Both lanes in each direction of Reisterstown Road will remain open during the maintenance work, however, the left turn lane from southbound Reisterstown Road to Cradock Lane will be closed during the work. A posted detour route will guide motorists to turn left at the MD 140/Avalon Way intersection, and then turn left onto Greene Tree Road to access Cradock Lane.

MDOT SHA advises travelers to plan for extra travel time along Reisterstown Road in the vicinity of McDonogh Road/Cradock Lane. Approximately 43,000 vehicles travel along this section of Reisterstown Road each day.

BGE customers with questions or concerns about this project may contact the utility at 1-800-685-0123 or by email at BGEProject@bge.com. When contacting BGE about this project, please refer to the Reisterstown Road Electric Reliability Upgrade and a member of the BGE project team will respond.

While MDOT SHA and its transportation and utility partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, road users should actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes, stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Drive like you work here.
