(April 24, 2020) –The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close the new MD 28 (Dickerson Road) bridge over the Monocacy River in Frederick County this weekend and post detours while work is completed to remove concrete barriers.

The closure will begin tonight at 10 p.m. and continue until 5 a.m. on Monday, April 27. The closure is necessary to remove barriers on the bridge placed during the nearly-completed replacement work.

After this weekend’s closure, there will be single lane closures and flagging operations from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, so that crews can complete the bridge replacement project this summer.

MDOT SHA will detour vehicles using MD 109 (Old Hundred Road), MD 355 (Urbana Pike), MD 80 (Fingerboard Road) and MD 85 (Buckeystown Pike).

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on the road and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. For a list of all major MDOT SHA projects, go to roads.maryland.gov.
